Dear friends, peers, healers, and community members,

My name is Erin Cyr. I am a lifelong North Shore resident.  I am a holistic healer with a practice focusing on customized wellness strategies for clients using my skills in massage, reiki, reflexology, herbalism, meditation, and aspects of traditional Chinese medicine.  I love my job, my clients, and my fellow healers.  The North Shore is ready for a wellness awakening and I want to reach out to all residents and get them involved.

I am creating a quarterly/seasonal free newspaper called “The Whole North Shore” that is about holistic health and its place on the North Shore of Massachusetts.  The paper will address the needs of both lay people and holistic health practitioners who want to make connections, learn, and exchange ideas about a holistic and wellness-based lifestyle.  Healers and practitioners will read it to learn about other modalities, advertise, network, check out their competition, and see what potential clients are reading about.  Lay- people will read it to learn more about holistic health and healing, ask questions, and begin to feel more comfortable with the topic of healing.  The paper will be a connection between the locals who have the knowledge and the locals who want to integrate wellness into their lives.  In creating these connections I hope to make information about holistic health available and understandable to anyone on the North Shore.  It is time for a blossoming of interest in holistic health in our community; I want this newspaper to be the go-to guide for that information.

You are receiving this letter because you are connected to this community in some way and your skills are needed.  I am looking for writers who want to share their knowledge in the realm of health arts.  Articles that are already in the works include: How to Buy Herbs, How to Find a Licensed Health Practitioner, How to Get an Education in the Healing Arts, Restaurant and Book Reviews, Ask the Healer, Hiking and Biking Trails for all levels, North Shore’s Most Beautiful Places to Connect with Nature and Meditate, and many more.  Your expertise is of great value, and I hope you will consider finding the time to impart some wisdom to the people of the North Shore.  Contributing writers will receive a discount on advertising, and also the opportunity to discuss their practice and entice new clients.

If you have written a book, lectures, or articles before then I would love to have excerpts in this paper.  Of course, new and original writing is welcome as well.  Any knowledge that you would like to impart on the subjects of wellness, healing, integrative medicine, various modalities, and the people and places of the North Shore are ideal for this publication.  You don’t need to be from the North Shore, but you do need to understand the desire for a connected community where information about traditional medicine is available and understandable for the general public.

Are you willing to join me and get involved?  The future could bring this newspaper anywhere and you can come along for the ride.  Eventually there will be a companion website, with a healing directory and issues will increase from quarterly to monthly.  I am also looking for advertisers and distribution locations.  Advertising information is attached.  If you know someone who would be an ideal contributor, advertiser, or distributor,  please pass this letter along.

Your article could be as short as 300 words, or as long as 1500.  A list of potential topics is attached.  If you would like to write for our first issue please reserve your space by March 5, 2008.  Articles for the first issue are due by April 5, 2008.  The Whole North Shore will be available throughout the North Shore including natural food and health stores, bookstores, herbs stores, cafés and restaurants, yoga and pilates studios, and the offices of holistic and natural health practitioners.  The first issue will have 5000 copies printed and will be released in August 2008.

Prices for advertising in the first issue are affordable and will go up with subsequent issues, but you can lock in the best prices now.  If you would like to advertise in our inaugural issue please contact The Whole North Shore by March 15, 2008.  After your first contact a representative will speak with you to iron out the details for your ad.

If you would like to become a distributor then, first of all, thank you.  This newspaper will be free to the public and all it needs is a little space.  Supplies will be monitored through visits and/or phone calls to check on your supply.  As this will be a quarterly newspaper your supplies will be replenished as needed.

I hope this idea of a whole and connected community inspires you to contact me and be a part of this newspaper.  You questions and comments are welcome.  Please feel free to contact me through my healing practice via mail, email, or phone.  The phone number is 978-360-0907, email is erin@wholesoulhealing.org, and the address is:
